Illusion Is The Ultimate Weapon

Welcome! This is a blog to chronicle the production, filming and release of the feature film based on the hit toy line and cartoon, MASK.

The tentative release date is November 25, 2009 (more on that later.) The executive producer is Mark Gordon (10,000 B.C., The Day After Tomorrow) and Paul Haggis (Crash, In the Valley of Elah) has been tapped to direct. He will be working from a screenplay by Paul W.S. Anderson (Death Race, Alien VS. Predator).

Anderson has described the script as "Batman Begins meets Transformers meets Apocalypse Now." It is said to be heavily influenced by the "realistic" tone of the Batman and Iron Man movies. Matt Tracker is indeed the main character and eventual leader of MASK, and the name of the main villain is Miles, although the "Mayhem" moniker might turn out to be a nickname, rather than a last name. In keeping with the cartoon, the working tagline is "Illusion Is The Ultimate Weapon", however, in all likelihood, "Perception Is Not Reality" will used as well, and is said to factor directly into the story. I'll have additional info on the plot as soon as possible.
